What's the buzz?

Current News, that is 'what's the buzz' about! New things often happen as we progress into better radio, below are the new things happening:

  • New website, surely you noticed a difference!

What is Hobart Radio international?

We have changed. "Hobart Radio International" or "HRi Radio" for short was a shortwave radio station broadcasting to Europe, North America and the world. Over the past two years we have gradually moved away from shortwave radio and focused on podcasting.

One thing never changes - our content! We continue to provide educational and entertaining programmes for a global audience since beginning in November 2003. We are the voice for Tasmania, and will always be developing and different. Crossing the borders, telling the unknown and investigating on what's important.

Our vision

A simple vision - to have our programmes aired on local AM/FM radio stations around the world. We also would love to have a volunteer network worldwide so more programmes can be made with a variety of personalities. To help make this happen why not join the team? To do so go to the contact page and email us.

What do we do?

A. Hobart Radio International is known globally for its famous DX Extra shortwave news programme by enthusiasts.

B. We are known locally for our up-to-date and interactive approach to the scanning hobby in the Hobart region with Scan Hobart.

C. Our name suggests we're a radio station, we were a SW station but lately our programmes and documentaries are as podcasts. We are always known as 'Tasmania's voice to the world!'.
